Some 2013 Resolutions

It's that reflecting time of year....

The Storm: "In 2013, I'm going to work on my patience."

Me: "I resolve less technology for everyone!"

Sunshine: "I'm going to have better posture because I think bad posture is ugly and I want to be pretty."

Shadow: "I'm already pretty and I know it. Instead, I resolve to be walked more often."

Balthazar: "I'm going to convince my wife to stop posting about our personal lives on her blog."

Me: "But just look at these faces, how can I not share them with the world?"

Hollywood: "I'm going to procrastinate less."

Cuz (visiting from Canada): "Can I tell you later?"

A Smidge About Me:

I'm not so special. Just another mom racing to catch up, then squeezing minutes from my crazy hectic days to share with you. Why? Therapy, I guess. Self-discovery. I'm hoping that in sharing about them, I find little pieces of me, the little pieces that I've lost through the years, or earlier today, or even new bits that I've grown without noticing. Like certain lines on my face.

I'm a mom, halfway there--my children are 16, 14 and 10. There are fewer of us longer-in-service moms blogging than new mommies, it seems. It might have to do with less time in the day. Or less energy. Or a grown child's right to privacy. Or a thousand other things. But, nevertheless, here I am. Blogging. Somewhat anonymously, at The Coop's request--please understand.

Our Progeny:

Sunshine is revelling in the freedom and glories of high school. She just turned 16, but you'd never know it for her even disposition--I'd wonder if she was really mine, if I hadn't the video footage to prove it. She was a ballerina for a long time, now she's on the debate team. She argues well. (That's a boast I never imagined making as a parent....).

Hollywood is a natural born artist and too sensitive to properly fit in middle school. But his skin thickens a little each day. He's smack dab in the middle of puberty and just past sounding like a squeaky toy. He dreams of stardom, less obsessively, than he used to--but he still wants to be an actor. He takes lessons and every now and then we whip out to LA for auditions.

The Storm (as in "Take the world by...") is our baby, and she's savvy enough play it up for all it's worth. Balthazar likes to say, "If she was our first, she'd have been our last." There might be some truth to this; she certainly keeps us sharp. The Storm is a soccer stud. And only the best hugger ever!
